NSW: Prison warden smuggles drugs into supermax jail
A New South Wales prison officer says he was paid $8000 to smuggle mobile telephonesand drugs into a high security jail.
The officer, CALE DAVID UROSEVIC, has told the Independent Commission Against Corruptionhe bowed to pressure from a powerful prisoner inside the super-maximum security unit atGoulburn prison.
UROSEVIC says he feared the repercussions if he failed to comply.
Corrective Services Commissioner RON WOODHAM says the incident earlier this year sparkedan increase in security measures at the prison.
Mr WOODHAM says the officer has been sacked and could face criminal charges.
ICAC Commissioner IRENE MOSS will deliver her findings on the matter at a date yet to be fixed.
